The Hidden Treasure Trailhead, located just north of downtown Black Hawk at 8060 Black Hawk Blvd., is the primary gateway to Maryland Mountain Quartz Valley Open Space Park. With ample parking and a dedicated bike and pedestrian bridge crossing Highway 119, visitors can safely access the Historic Gilpin Tramway Trail and nearly 16 miles of hiking and mountain biking trails. From scenic overlooks to thrilling downhill descents, your Black Hawk adventure begins the moment you step onto the trail.

Maryland Mountain has quickly become one of Colorado's premier mountain biking destinations. Featuring three purpose-built, bike-only downhill routes, riders of all skill levels can experience scenic climbs, thrilling descents, and spectacular mountain views just minutes from historic downtown Black Hawk.

Intermediate • Flow Trail
Built for riders looking to develop their downhill skills, Fast Money delivers a smooth, confidence-building ride with flowing turns, berms, rollers, and approachable features. It's the perfect introduction to Maryland Mountain's downhill trail system while still offering plenty of fun for experienced riders looking for fast, flowing laps.

Advanced • Jump & Technical Trail
Hard Money raises the excitement with faster speeds, optional jumps, drops, rock gardens, and technical features that reward confident riding. This bike-only downhill trail blends flow with challenge, making it a favorite among experienced mountain bikers looking for an adrenaline-filled descent.

Expert • Double Black Diamond
Ore Chute is Maryland Mountain's most demanding downhill experience. Hand-built through rugged terrain, this steep, technical trail features rock slabs, rock gardens, fall-line descents, and challenging natural features designed for expert riders. It's one of the Front Range's premier double black diamond mountain bike trail.

Historic Gilpin Tramway
Why kids love it: This route follows an old 1800s train grade. It is mostly flat and very wide. Kids can easily walk, run, or ride bikes here. You will see a small waterfall and old mining ruins along the way
Quartz Valley Trail
Why kids love it: This path branches right off the Tramway trail. It winds through peaceful pine forests and sunny meadows.
